Coming to church might be daunting if you have not been before or if you have not been for some time. We want our welcome to help you take part.
When do you meet?
Our Sunday services are generally at 10.00am. Please visit our calendar page for more information on particular dates.
How do I get there?
See our Find us page to get map and directions.
What happens when I get there?
You will be welcomed, given any sheets you need for the service, and invited to take a seat wherever you like. There are all ages at St George’s so you are unlikely to feel out of place here!
During the service we will sing, read the Bible, pray and hear a talk. We aim to use a mix of songs; the best of the new as well as the best of the old. Feel free to join in with what you feel comfortable with. The talk or sermon will help us understand the Bible passage and see what it means for those who follow Jesus Christ today. After the 10am service tea and coffee is served over the road in the Parish Centre. This is also chance to get to know people and have a chat so please stick around so we can welcome you and get to know you.
Is there anything for my children?
Yes, they are very welcome. We have lots of families and a range of children’s groups for 0-14s run during the 10am service over in the parish centre buildings opposite the church building. The children begin in the main church service every week with their families. Every week apart from the 2nd Sunday (which is usually an All-Age Service), they will leave part-way through the service to go to their groups in the Parish Centre.
All of our children’s workers are fully CRB checked. Click here for our safeguarding policy.
Will I be asked to give money?
Not if you don’t want to! The collection is an opportunity primarily for regular members to give to the work of the church, if they do not already do so by standing order.
Where do I go if I need the toilet?
There is a toilet at the back of church if you need it. A disabled toilet and baby change area are available in the Parish Centre buildings.
What about Christianity?
It doesn’t matter how much or how little knowledge you have about Christianity. We try to make our services easy to understand and are always willing to help with questions you may have. We may well have wrestled with the same issue at some point.
If you are interested in finding out more about Christianity, please contact our church office here.
