Homegroups

At St George’s, in addition to our Sunday gathering, we love to meet during the week in small groups – we call these Home Groups or Daytime Groups.  These come in a variety of shapes and sizes, to accommodate different stages and patterns of life.

What is a Home Group or Daytime Group?

They are small groups of people from St George’s Church, Wembdon who regularly meet together to learn from God’s Word, by reading and discussing a Bible passage together, to support one another, and to provide spiritual encouragement.  The groups meet either in a home, or in one of the rooms at our Parish Centre.  They are made up of around 6-12 people, and provide a safe space in which we can learn, share, and live the Christian life together.

What is the Purpose of a Home Group or Daytime Group?

To provide an environment in which we can enjoy the friendship and fellowship of one another, and in which we can grow in our Christian lives.  In summary, our Small Groups are in place to provide: –

  • The love of Christian friends
  • Insight into the message of Christ (from God’s Word, the Bible)
  • Prayer Support
  • Emotional and practical support
  • Spiritual encouragement
  • Opportunities for service

The phrase ‘one another’ comes many times in the New Testament and can teach us about the purposes and aims of our Small Groups as we meet together.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching .

Hebrews 10:24-25
